Android 17 for Galaxy S23 and S23 Ultra : Features and Release

Samsung S23 and S23 Ultra are the flagships that arrived in 2023 with pre-installed Android 13. The S23 and S23 Ultra users received the Android 16 with One UI 8 update in Q4 of 2025 and the next big update for these flagships is Android 17. The One UI 9 based on Android 17 might be the last update for the S23 series as the tech giant promised for 4 major updates only.

Google rolled out the Android 17 Beta update in February for Pixel devices. The search giant is gearing up to release the third beta of Android 17 soon, the final rollout of the Seventeenth iteration of Android is expected to come out in Q2 of 2026.

The next big update for Galaxy S23 and S23 ultra flagships is coming with so many awesome features like revamped user interface, support for new video codec, camera and memory management refinements and so on.

Android 17 Features :

1. Material 3 Expressive

Google refreshed the user interface with the new material design in Android 17 beta for Pixel devices. Samsung may include these refinements in its homegrown One UI 9 rollout based on Android 17. After updating, Galaxy S23 users can interact with notifications more efficiently and also use app bubbles feature in a better way. So many other interface improvements are there which behave in a interactive fashion, according to users.

2. New Camera APIs & Media support

The next android update also contains camera APIs that make possible seamless transition between primary and secondary cameras. VVC codec support is another important feature which supports 4k/8k video recording with upto 50% compression than traditional formats. So S23 users can record videos more efficiently after update to Android 17.

The update also contains many memory and battery refinements and minor improvements and Google is still adding new features with each beta release.

Android 17 Rollout for Galaxy S23 and S23 Ultra

Since the Search giant is preparing to release the final version of Android 17 in early June 2026, Samsung may begin the beta testing of Android 17 for its flagships in July 2026. Samsung S23 users in few regions may receive the update in Q3 of 2026, and in the remaining regions the rollout most possibly finish by end of 2026.
