Android 17 update for Galaxy S24 and S24 Plus : Release Date and Features
Galaxy S24 and S24 Plus are the flagship devices from Samsung released in 2024, January with inbuilt Android 14 OS and received the Android 16 update recently. The next big update for these flagships is Android 17, codenamed as Cinnamon bun.
Android 17 is the upcoming big update from Google which is in beta testing phase currently. The Search giant released the first beta of Android 17 on February 13th to Pixel devices with many astonishing features. The second beta of Android 17 started the rollout for Pixel device testers on February 26th.
Android 17 Exclusive Features
The seventeenth iteration of Android, One UI 9 update will come with useful features for Galaxy users like fully adaptive apps, battery, camera and performance improvements and so on.
Adaptive apps is a feature of Android which came with earlier versions, in which apps change their layout and improves functionality. The Search giant integrated improved adaptiveness to apps in Android 17, so that users can switch from between devices maintaining continuity.
Another interesting feature of Android 17 is Camera improvements which consist of reducing lag when user switches between various lenses like main, telephoto.
Google improved battery life in Android 17 beta 1 by CPU efficiency tweaks and improved RAM management. However, Samsung will optimize One UI 9 again, so we have to wait until the beta testing to confirm the improvements for Galaxy S24 and S24 Plus.
Android 17 (One UI 9) Rollout dates for Galaxy S24 and S24 Plus
The Galaxy S24 and S24 device owners received the Android 16 (One UI 8) update in September 2025 in most of the regions and later Samsung paused the rollout for some time. Google is gearing up to rollout the final version of Android 17 to Pixel devices around June 2026.
So the Galaxy S24 Plus and S24 users may experience the early beta of Android 17 in July or August 2026 and the final rollout may start in Q4 of 2026.
